FIDE ALBUM 2013-2015 – Results in section G

fide-album-photoThe results of the FIDE Album 2013-15 section G (fairies) are ready!

There were 1909 submissions (including duplicates). Of these, 1478 achieved at least 4.5 points. The ratio of the 294 selected fairies with 8+ points vs. the entries with 4,5+ points is 19,89%.

Many thanks to the director and the judges for their hard and efficient work!

Update 21.02.2018: Three compositions were removed from the list (two of them had not been published in 2013-15 and one was cooked), while one composition was added as the score of one judge had not been recorded correctly in the spreadsheet.

Update 12.03.2018: One joint composition was included twice in the list of selected problems and of course one of them had to be removed.

Solvers’ ratings January 1st 2018

Solvers’ ratings as of January 1st 2018 produced by the Solving Tournament Manager are published! 
9 tournaments are included for the 4th quarter 2017: 26th Kedainiai Cup, Open Solving Championship of CFO, 10th Albino Cup, 4th Round of Serbian Solving League 2017, 28th Henk Hagedoorn Memorial 2017, XVI WSGP 2017 Open, XVI Warsaw Grand Prix 2017, 24th Belgian Championship 2017, 5th Round of Serbian Solving League 2017. The ranking of the top ten solvers remains the same. Vidmantas Satkus (LTU) achieved the largest gain with an increase of 65 points which resulted in improving the ranking from the 48th to the 26th place.

FIDE ALBUM 2013-2015 – Results in section E

fide-album-photoThe results of the FIDE Album 2013-15 section E (helpmates) are ready!

An impressive number of 2583 entries (incl. duplicates) were received and they were split in three groups: E1 for h#<=2, E2 for h#2,5 and h#3, and E3 for h#>3. The h#2s dominated once more. In each group there were three judges with each team of judges working independently. 2027 entries scored at least 4,5 points (78,5% of the total entries, a decent ratio for such a popular genre). 305 problems scored at least 8 points, which represents a reasonable ratio of 15% selected problems; of course the respective ratio varies in the three groups. Full statistics are given in the page of the results.

Update 5.12.2017: An anticipation was found for a selected h#2 which is now removed form the list.

Update 14.12.2017: A selected h#2, which is already included in the 2010-12 album, is now removed from the list.

Invitation to the 14th ISC

The International Solving Contest – ISC – next year will take place on Sunday January 28th 2018. The event is happening simultaneously in all participating countries.

14th ECSC in Moscow

We were notified by the organisers of the 14th ECSC that the championship will not take place at Kaliningrad, as the initially foreseen hotel had to arrange some other events in that weekend. The new venue and dates are as follows:
