The International Solving Contest – ISC – next year will take place on Sunday January 27^th 2019. The event is happening simultaneously in all participating countries. The name of the locally appointed controller must reach the central controllers by e-mail no later than December 31^st 2018.

WCCC 2018 Bulletin

The first version of the WCCC 2018 bulletin is assembled from the received and collected resources. It contains results of all competitions, and includes auto-generated table of contents and bookmarks, for easy navigation.

Update is planned at least for December, when, after the 3-month objection period, preliminary awards of pre-congress tourneys will be replaced by final ones. – Ivan Denkovski

7 tournaments are included for the 3^rd quarter 2018: 2^nd Russian Women Chess Solving Cup 2018, Chess solving tournament ‘Day of family’ (Russia), 26^th Czech Chess Solving Championship 2018, 1^st Ukrainian Cup 2018, Open Solving Tournament of WCCC 2018, 42^nd World Chess Solving Championship 2018, Open Men’s Solving Championship of Tula region.
The ranking of the top ten solvers sees some exchanges of places but only one addition with Bojan Vučković replacing Ofer Comay. The largest three gains have been achieved by Ilija Serafimović (SRB / +105.62!), Alexey Kukelko (UKR / +77.82 and Danila Moiseev (RUS / +76.06).

WCCI 2016-2018: Announcement

The WFCC is inviting composers of all countries to participate in the 2016-18 WCCI. The tourney director is Dmitry Turevsky (email: dmitri.turevski@gmail.com). The competition will be held according to the system used in the previous championship, with changes in the points 4, 5, 8 and 12 of the rules.

4. A composer may submit to each section no more than 6 and no less than 4 compositions published in the defined three-year period. For informal tourneys the date of publication of the issue containing the composition is decisive; for formal tourneys the date of appearance of the award is decisive (NB: not the closing date of the tourney). If a composition has been published in a magazine which is labelled 2015 on the front but it appeared in 2016-2018, the composition is eligible for the 2016-18 WCCI. If a composition has been published in a magazine which is labelled 2018 on the front but it appeared in 2019, the composition is eligible for the 2016-18 WCCI provided that the magazine was published before the deadline. If a composition has been published in a magazine which is labelled 2019 on the front but it appeared in 2018, the composition is not eligible for the 2016-18 WCCI. Later corrections or versions could be accepted if they are submitted before the deadline. If the date of publication is in doubt, the director should ask the composer for evidence. Joint compositions and versions created in collaboration with other composer(s) are not allowed. It is not allowed to submit compositions on behalf of someone else without explicit statement of the other person’s consent.	4. Judges in section D (endgame studies) are requested to allocate points to the studies as if they had been composed in the traditional manner before the advent of the computer into compositional chess. It should also be noted that studies are not to be regarded as anticipated by any position appearing in a computer-generated database.	8. The members of the Supervising Panel should also point out irregularities and ask the director for a resolution.	12. The director will send the tables with the results to the 3 members of the Supervising Panel, who cannot be participating or judging in any section. 61st WCCC – Highlights and Decisions

26 member countries were present. Neal Turner acted as substitute secretary.
WCCT: Mikalai Sihnevich (BLR) will be the director of the 11th WCCT. Countries are urged to submit their theme-proposals and inform about the sections they are willing to judge by 15 November 2018. The contact person is the WCCT committee spokesman, Georgy Evseev, 10wcct@gmail.com (same email address as in the previous tournament). It is hoped that the countries will submit sufficient feedback, so that the WCCT can be announced within March 2019.
WCCI: Selection of the judges for the 2016-18 WCCI was finalized. The announcement of the championship will be issued by the end of September and the closing date will be 20.1.2019. The results will be published on the site by the end of June 2019.
FIDE Album: Theme indexers are expected to finish their work by the end of 2018 and the 2013-15 album is scheduled to be ready in the 2019 congress. Selection of the section directors and judges for the 2016-18 album was finalized. The fairies section will be split in two groups (one group for fairies without conditions, and the other for fairies with conditions). The announcement of the 2016-18 album will be issued in early January 2019 with a closing date of 1 June 2019. →more…
