WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN COMPOSING FOR INDIVIDUALS (WCCI) 2007-2009
The ICCU is inviting composers of all countries to paricipate in the WCCI 2007-2009. The Tourney Director (or Director) is Mike Prcic (Address: 2613 Northshore Lane, Westlake Village, CA 91361, USA. email: Tuzlak
aol.com). The competition will be held according to the current system used in the three previous competitions (WCCI 1998-2000, WCCI 2001-2003 and WCCI 2004-2006). The rules of competition are shown below.

- October 5th 2009 Announcement of WCCI 2007-2009.
- January 1st 2010 The final list of judges.
- July 1st 2010 All entries are sent to the Director. Submissions via email extended till July 31st.
- August 5th 2010 Entries mailed to judges.
- March 1st 2011 Judges’ decisions sent to the Director.
- May 1st 2011 Provisional award displayed on Internet. (One month left for anticipations reporting.)
- June 1st 2011 Award becomes final.
- August 1st 2011 Publication date of the booklet.
General Rules
1. The WCCI is organized with the authority of the ICCU. The championship should be announced in advance.
2. The WCCI is open to all composers from all countries.
3. The WCCI includes the following sections: Section A: Twomovers (#2) Section B: Threemovers (#3) Section C: Moremovers (#n) Section D: Endgame studies (EG) Section E: Helpmates (h#) Section F: Selfmates (s#) Section G: Fairies (f#) Section H: Retro problems (retros).
4. Three judges in each section grade the compositions. The ICCU gives instructions on the choice of the judges. Only judges with the title “International Judge of the FIDE for Chess Composition” will be invited. The final choice of the judges and the Director lies with the ICCU. The judge cannot participate as competitor in his section, but he/she is free to enter all other sections.
5. A composer may send, in each section, no more than six compositions published in a defined three-year period. Corrected compositions or versions may participate in a period when they are published. Joint compositions are not allowed. It is not allowed to send compositions for somebody else. The best four compositions count for the final result.
6. Entries should be in five copies, stamped on uniform diagrams size A5 (half of the regular sheet of paper for printing), with the author’s name, publication data, any award, stipulation and full solution clearly written on the front of each diagram with a comment if desired. The algebraic notation is to be used. Compositions should be sent to the Director. He sends them to the judges.
7. Judges give marks to all compositions according to a 0 – 4 scale (the same criterion as for FIDE Album). They send marks to the Director. Judges may exclude incorrect or anticipated compositions from the tourney with the agreement of the Director.
8. The Director calculates the results. The final mark of the particular composition is an average of the marks from all three judges. The final mark is rounded out to two decimals.
9. The sum of a composer’s four best compositions is calculated for his final result. The champion in each section is the composer with the highest sum of his four best compositions. In a case of a tie, the highestranked composition will decide. If they are still the same, the secondranked composition decides, etc. If all compositions have the same marks, composers share places.
10. The results from all composers are announced in the final report. The compositions (the best four), with eventual comments, should be published for at least the three best composers in each section. The three compositions with the highest marks in each section should also be published if they do not belong to the winners. The official documents (announcement and award) should be written in at least one of the official languages of the FIDE. The ICCU decides about the publisher of a booklet.
11. The three best composers in each section should be awarded a Certificate of Honor.
