WCCI 2013-2015: Statistics

By far the biggest final numbers: till the last day (January 20th) 2862 entries by 248 composers from 41 countries arrived! 

For the first time, all entries publicly available on the “Entries” page (click on the numbers of problems sent by each composer).

Previous records: 2319 entries (2004-06), 227 composers (2010-12), 38 countries (2001-03).

Invitation to Belgrade: 59th WCCC & 40th WCSC

wccc2016-logoThe Serbian Chess Problem Society invites you to the 59th World Congress of Chess Composition (WCCC) and the 40th World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC). The event will be held from July 30th to August 6th 2016, in the 5-star Metropol Palace Hotel, in the center of Belgrade.

The Opening ceremony (July 30th) will be in the Assembly of the City of Belgrade.

The Open solving (August 1st), will be directed by Axel Steinbrink (Germany).

The director of 40th WCSC (August 2nd & 3rd) will be Brian Stephenson (Great Britain).

For the first time in the history of WCCC, separate competitions for juniors up to 18 years will be organized, both in composing and solving chess problems.

1st FIDE World Chess Solving Championship for Juniors

FIDE-logoFIDE, in co-operation with the Russian State Social University (RSSU), the International School Chess Union, the Russian Chess Federation and the Moscow Directorate of sport events, organizes the 1st FIDE World Chess Solving Championship for Juniors.

The championship will be held in Moscow, 30 January to 3 February 2016, within the framework of the 12th International Chess RSSU Cup “Moscow Open 2016”. There will be three categories: boys and  girls under 15 years old, U17, and U19. Further details are included in the files with the rules of the RSSU Cup and the rules of the Solving Championship.

12th European Chess Solving Championship

ECSC12-logoThe Greek Chess Composition Committee, in co-operation with the Greek Chess Federation, has the honor of inviting the European national teams and individual solvers to participate in the 12th European Chess Solving Championship. The event will be held from Friday, April 15th (arrival) to Sunday, April 17th2016 (departure) at the “Oasis Hotel Apartments” in Glyfada, a cosmopolitan suburb of Athens.
Director of the open solving tournament will be Ioannis Garoufalidis (GRE) assisted by Harry Fougiaxis. Director of the ECSC will be Ivan Denkovski (MKD) assisted by Ioannis Garoufalidis and Harry Fougiaxis.

Solvers’ ratings January 1st 2016

(05.01) A correction is made to the Solvers’ ratings as of January 1st 2016: the 7th tournament, Henk Hagedoorn Memorial, is added; the changes are related to the main list only.

(01.01) Solvers’ ratings as of January 1st 2016 are published! 6 tournaments included: 24th Kedainiai cup; ICH of Switzerland Bern; 8th Albino cup Minsk; ICH of Belgium Geel; OPEN GP Warsaw; 14th GP Warsaw.

Three top solvers are: Georgy Evseev, Kacper Piorun and John Nunn!
