4th FIDE World Cup in Composing 2015 (C 15.1.2015)

The International Chess Federation (FIDE), within the framework of its “Chess Composition” special project, is organizing the 4th FIDE World Cup in Composing for 2015 in eight sections.

The tournament is coordinated with the WFCC Presidium and is a part of the joint efforts by FIDE and WFCC for the popularization and development of chess composition worldwide.

The hard-working and efficient team of the 2010-12 Album Threemovers section managed to conclude their work just a few weeks before the congress. The average quality in this section has been surprisingly high and a decent number of titles are to be awarded in Berne!

12 tournaments included: 20th ICH of Netherlands Nunspeet; ICH of Serbia Beograd; 35th ICH of Azerbaijan Baku; 37th ICH of Poland Bydgoszcz; 38th ICH of Germany Illertissen; 35th ICH of Lithuania Kedainiai; 22nd ICH of Slovakia Košice; OPEN Igalo; 10th ECSC Igalo; 22nd ICH of Czechia Praha; 8th UP cup Obninsk; 13th ICH of Greece Patras. The three top solvers are the same, in the order: Piotr Murdzia, Georgy Evseev and John Nunn!

Please remember, that the deadline for the registration on 57th WCCC and 38th WCSC, which guarantees the hotel reservation, is at the end of this month, June 30^th, 2014!

The first hints and tips by Franziska Iseli have been published today on the WCCC 2014 website.

Uri Avner (13-01-1941 – 10-06-2014)

GM Uri Avner passed away on the 10th of June, 2014, at the age of 73, after a long battle with a severe disease. For many years Uri Avner led the Israeli chess composition society, represented Israel in the WCCC and was the best Israeli composer. Uri was always involved in various sub-committees and was the President of the PCCC from 2006 to 2010 during its transition to WFCC. He was also nominated honorary president in 2010.

WFCC expresses condolences to Israeli problemists, Uri’s family, relatives, friends.
